Coffee Chat: vol II.

Let's topic chat over coffee... topics I know you and I both can relate on! It goes deeper than an outfit post + I'll share what's going on in my life or beyond Styled by Sequins.

Coffee Chat: vol II.

Little Gracie Jo Hodges was adopted from the Humane Society in Fort Worth on February 24th. Let me tell y'all a little back story before I get into details about her... Colin and I decided to take a spontaneous trip one Saturday morning to the Humane Society North Texas, just to "look..." At least for me, I had no intentions on taking a pup home, that is until we saw little one.

(**Side note: we have been wanting a pup for like 6 years now!**)

Let me set the scene for y'all... the Humane Society is a great place, however if you've never been in one before it's very well kept, but there's a lot of dogs there! I was shocked to see how many dogs were housed. Walking down the isle or in the crated rooms it was insane. The barking dogs totally spooked me and I even love dogs! (I wish more adopted)

There were two puppy rooms and the bigger dogs were in larger rooms with their own space. I was pleased to see how well they accommodated all those dogs. The first puppy room was way too much for us, it had a bunch of small "yappy" dogs with high pitches barks. (Not for us.) The second puppy room consisted of larger puppy breads. This was more our place. Prior to coming, we searched online to see what breads were in the shelter.) We went searching for a specific pup, but she had already been adopted. Then we came across "Murphy," she was a terrier mix and super precious. She was a heart breaker for sure! "Murphy" was the first pup we saw that we wanted to hold and play with. Sooner or later, "Murphy" stole our hearts and we adopted her.

"Murphy" was her shelter name. When we filled out paperwork out that's when we changed her name. Most shelter dogs don't know their name, which it makes it easier to rename your adopted puppy. We named our little girl, Gracie Jo Hodges.

It's safe to say she stole our hearts from day one and continues to love on us and we love her up right back. As a puppy, she does puppy things such as play a TON, go places she's not allowed to go, whine and cry for attention, and not walking on a leash the right way. Gracie is a really good puppy. We were really lucky to have adopted a precious, sweet and playful puppy. As y'all know, adopted puppies can be hard. They only "real" issues we have encountered with Gracie was she came down with worms and kennel cough. These are VERY common for shelter dogs. Vets like to call these "party favors!"

Gracie Jo has been a blessing for Colin and I on so many levels. She is our little girl (I know it's weird to say that.. it's true) We have enjoyed loving on something else other than our selves. I'm excited to share more through her puppy journey!

Stay tuned for more dog related tips, tricks, ect on this new blog category. If y'all want to follow along her puppy life... follow Gracie's Instagram account >> @littlegraciejo
